Big initiative of Punjab Government, ‘Maawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’ gave financial strength to women, amount reached directly into accounts

Punjab News: ‘Mukhyamantri Maanva Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’, started with the aim of improving the social and economic condition of women in Punjab, is now showing its impact in the entire state. Through this scheme, the state government has taken a big step towards financially strengthening lakhs of women. The government is transferring money directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries using the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The biggest advantage of this entire system is that there is no scope left for any kind of middleman or broker in it. By getting help with complete transparency, women’s courage has increased and they are becoming capable of taking decisions related to their lives.

Lakhs of women got direct benefit of the scheme

According to the data released by the state government, till now a huge amount of Rs 1,149 crore has been sent directly into the bank accounts of about 33 lakh eligible women. This scheme has been prepared in such a way that needy women from every section of the society can get its benefits. Under the scheme, a total assistance of Rs 4,500 has been provided to eligible women of Scheduled Caste i.e. SC category in three separate installments of Rs 1,500 each. On the other hand, beneficiary women coming from other categories have been given a total assistance of Rs 3,000 through three installments of Rs 1,000 each. With this financial assistance, women are getting a lot of convenience in meeting their daily needs.

State’s biggest women safety scheme

According to the Punjab government, more than 70 lakh women across the state have registered themselves to avail the benefits of this ambitious scheme. With such a large number of applications, it is clear that this scheme has become one of the largest women-centric social security schemes of Punjab so far. Women from every corner of the state are joining this scheme and appreciating this initiative of the government. This figure shows how much there was a need for such schemes at the grassroots level, which the Punjab government has recognized at the right time.

Relief from office hassles and queues

The experience of women taking advantage of this scheme has been quite pleasant. Due to DBT system, the amount received is deposited directly into their bank accounts. Because of this, women do not have to visit any government office nor do they have to stand in long lines for hours to get money. Whenever they feel the need of money for home or personal use, they can easily go to their nearest bank or ATM and withdraw the amount. This also saves their time and they do not have to face any problem.

Economic freedom and increased participation in decisions

Sarabjit Kaur, a resident of Gurdaspur, says that with money coming directly into the bank account, it has become very easy to keep the money safe and spend it as per one’s need. According to him, when the money comes into the woman’s own account, she gets complete freedom to spend it according to the priorities of the family. Similarly, Gagandeep Kaur of Harchowal village says that this scheme is completely transparent. He told that within a few days of submitting the application, the assistance amount had come into his account, due to which he did not have to face any hindrance.
