Fear of spread of contagious viral fever at Jantar Mantar, problems of protesters increased, BP and sugar patients also found.

Doctors said that a large number of people are arriving with complaints of throat pain, headache and high fever.

New Delhi. The threat of infectious diseases has started looming amid the huge crowd gathering at Jantar Mantar, the protest site of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) in Delhi. Due to the scorching heat, humidity and the crowd gathered at the protest site, there is a possibility of viral fever spreading rapidly with complaints of headache and throat pain. This infection spreading among each other through coughing and sneezing has increased the problems of the protesters.

Volunteer doctors present at the protest site have claimed that due to overcrowding and living in the open, a large number of people are suffering from viral infections, dehydration and other health problems.

Dr. Shilpa of ‘Five River Heart Association’, who came from Punjab, said that a large number of people are reaching her with complaints of throat pain, headache and high fever. He said that till Wednesday evening, more than 200 people have been given paracetamol and other related medicines. According to Dr. Shilpa, who is providing free medical facilities to the protesters at Jantar Mantar, many people are sleeping in the open on the ground, due to which the risk of infection is increasing.

He said, a large number of elderly people are coming for treatment of diabetes and high blood pressure. Some people could not bring medicines with them or their medicines got lost in the crowd, so essential medicines are being provided to such people. He told that many people are not eating enough food due to which their health is deteriorating and they are complaining of nausea, vomiting and dehydration. The doctor said that such people are being given food and ORS at the protest site.

People are also arriving with complaints of sprained legs.

Another doctor from Patiala, Punjab said that due to large crowd, the infection is spreading from one person to another through coughs and sneezes. He said that apart from viral infection, people are also arriving with complaints of cough, sprained legs and minor injuries. The doctor said that along with his team, doctors from nearby medical colleges are also working as volunteers who are coming here after completing their duties. A team of four-five volunteer doctors is always present at the protest site.

He said that the team has painkillers, antibiotics, wound ointments, ORS, allergy, diabetes and blood pressure medicines and cough syrup available. He said that many people are also donating medicines. A student named PU (22) has donated paracetamol, ORS, bandages and first aid items. Dr. Shilpa told that many people are coming with complaints of sprain or twisted leg. He said that when the police raises batons or chases people, they run away, during which their legs get twisted and sprains occur.
