Today, July 24, Friday is the event of Panyaryatra or Uloto Rath Yatra. On the other hand, there is no fixed or restricted time period for observing Vanta Rath. This festival can be celebrated with utmost devotion throughout the day. However, there is some difference in the schedule of puja nirghanta and rathtan depending on the place and temple. As per the traditional custom of Jagannathdev, the procession of worship and festival begins in Mandape Mandapa from morning. The main festival begins when the chariots of Jagannath, Balarama and Goddess Subhadra start again from Masi’s house towards the main temple. We know the auspicious merits of Lord Jagannath’s return to this abode as upside down chariot.

On the reverse chariot day, Jagannathdev’s chariot ‘Nandighosh’, Balarama’s ‘Taldhvaja’ and Goddess Subhadra’s ‘Darpadalan’ return to their respective temples from the Gundicha temple or aunt’s house. The auspicious occasion of the return of the deities to this abode is called Ulto Rath.

First clean the idols of Jagannath, Balaram and Goddess Subhadra thoroughly for worshiping at home. Beautify Jagannath with as many new clothes and ornaments as you can, keeping in mind the traditional gold besh or sunabesh of Puri. After that, with a pure mind, he decided to perform the puja and invoked the seat of the gods and goddesses. Along with fresh flowers and various offerings, Tulsi leaves, the absolute favorite of Sri Jagannath, can be offered as part of the puja. Then offer fruit, various kinds of sweetmeats and according to folk belief to Lord’s favorite burnt pitha as Bhoga. Finally, light incense, lamp and camphor and perform aarti with devotion. Chant the Lord’s mantra and bow down for the overall well-being of the family.
