Punjab News: Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab has given big relief to thousands of employees of the state on the occasion of Diwali. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has announced a 40 percent increase in the dearness allowance (DA) of 6,507 computer teachers. After this decision, dearness allowance of these teachers will increase from 181 percent to 221 percent. Apart from this, it has also been decided to give salary related benefits to 1,007 non-teaching employees working under the Samagra Shiksha Yojana. Giving this information on social media platform X, the Chief Minister wished Diwali to the employees.
6,507 computer teachers will get direct benefit
This decision of the Punjab Government will benefit 6,507 computer teachers working under the Punjab Information and Communication Technology Education Society (PICTES). The government has increased their dearness allowance by 40 percent. Earlier these teachers used to get 181 percent DA, but now it has increased to 221 percent.
Dearness allowance is given to the employees to provide relief from the impact of rising inflation. With its increase, the monthly salary of the employees will also increase. This is expected to provide financial relief to thousands of families.
Monthly salary can increase up to Rs 14 thousand
Employees will get the benefit of increase in DA according to their basic salary. According to available information, computer teachers whose basic salary is Rs 15,000 will get an additional Rs 6,000 every month. At the same time, employees with basic salary of Rs 25,000 can get a benefit of around Rs 10,000 and employees with basic salary of Rs 35,000 can get a benefit of around Rs 14,000.
In this way, employees of different salary categories will get additional amount according to their basic salary.
Relief to 1,007 non-teaching staff also
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has also made an important announcement for 1,007 non-teaching staff working under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan along with computer teachers. The services of these employees had been regularized some time ago. Now the government has decided to give them additional benefits related to salary. With this, these employees associated with the education department are also expected to get financial relief.
DA was also increased in January 2025
The Punjab government had earlier increased the dearness allowance of computer teachers from 148 percent to 181 percent in January 2025. At that time also the monthly salary of the employees was increased as per their basic salary. Now once again these teachers have got relief by 40 percent increase in DA.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that his government is committed to the welfare of the employees and their secure future. This decision of the government has brought financial relief to thousands of employees associated with the education department on the occasion of Diwali.
