Punjab: Wheat Arrival & Procurement crosses target mark of 122 Lakh Metric Tonnes

The foolproof arrangements by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Punjab, has led to the achieving of a milestone in the Wheat procurement season. The target both in terms of arrival and procurement has been achieved.
Guided by the vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, the Department has crossed the figure of 122 Lakh Metric Tonnes. This milestone has been achieved despite incessant rain and hailstorm lashing different parts of the State in early stages of procurement.
The total arrival as of now stands at 122.73 Lakh MT out of which 122.23 LAKH MT stands procured.
Notably, the Minimum Support Price (MSP) payment in excess of Rs. 29000 Crores were credited into the accounts of over 7 lakh farmers.
Notably, as part of the efforts for making the procurement season a success, foolproof arrangements were made such as the operationalization of 1897 procurement centers and nearly 986 temporary yards.
