In this historic ceremony organized to commemorate the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany, Putin said that the ongoing war in Ukraine is absolutely right and also praised Russia’s military strength.

It was the first time in nearly two decades that Moscow’s parade did not include any modern military hardware, such as tanks or missiles. Only detachments of military personnel marched on Red Square. Russian MP Yevgeny Popov said on this that our tanks are busy at the moment. They are fighting on the battlefield and they are needed there more than in Red Square.

Putin was accompanied by Belarus leader Alexander Lukashenko, Laos President Thongloun Sisulith and Malaysia’s Sultan Ibrahim during the parade. However, the number of international leaders was significantly less compared to last year. North Korean soldiers also participated in this program organized amidst tight security arrangements.
