Putin’s big statement: Called Pakistan an ‘independent country’, but Russian President became a fan of India’s economic strength and PM Modi
Many very interesting things have come to light in Russia’s St. Petersburg International Forum (SPIEF) regarding global politics and diplomacy. As always, Russian President Vladimir Putin openly expressed his views on many international issues while talking to journalists around the world. In this conversation, while he praised India’s growing economic strength and the independent foreign policy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he also gave a new perspective to the world on the mutual equations between Pakistan and China. Is Pakistan under complete control of China? Putin replied: During the forum, when an Indian journalist asked Putin a question regarding the close relations between China and Pakistan, ‘Will Russia ensure that India’s defense interests are not harmed due to its proximity to these two countries?’ So Putin responded very maturely on this issue. He completely rejected the common belief that Pakistan only follows the dictates of China. Pakistan is a big country: Putin said that Pakistan is a very big country and it has multifaceted relations with many other countries of the world. Therefore, it is wrong to think that it is completely under the control of China. The real reason for closeness to China: He believed that it is a big economic need of today’s times for Pakistan to have good relations with China. Today every country in the world wants to strengthen its relations with China because it is a major center of the global economy. Praising India’s economic progress and PM Modi, Putin once again described India as a very reliable and historical ally of Russia from the international forum. He said that the way the Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is working hard for the development of the country, its positive results are clearly visible to the whole world today. ‘It is impossible to put pressure on PM Modi and India’ Taking on America and Western countries, Putin said that America is constantly trying to put pressure on India to reduce cooperation with Russia. But by now everyone has understood well that putting any kind of pressure on PM Narendra Modi and an emerging superpower like India is not only harmful for international relations, but the countries doing so will cause bilateral loss to themselves. India is fully capable of taking its own decisions. Mathematics of global economy: India at number three Putin, while mentioning the position of the top countries of the world in terms of Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) and GDP, told how some selected countries have left European countries and Japan behind: Opposition to external interference on India-China relations Talking about the border dispute and complicated diplomatic relations between India and China, the Russian President gave a special advice to other countries of the world. He clearly said that India and China have very delicate and multi-dimensional relations. It is not a right idea at all for any third foreign country to interfere in the mutual affairs of these two countries. Russia remains in constant touch with its top friends in both countries and believes that they are capable of resolving their issues mutually. Recently, the Foreign Minister of Türkiye had also said similar things regarding its balanced relations with India and Pakistan. This latest statement by Putin clearly shows how strong India’s position has become in global diplomacy today, where even a superpower like Russia openly recognizes Indian interests and PM Modi’s leadership.
