Putin’s tough stance in support of India, warning to countries imposing sanctions?
New Delhi. Russian President Vladimir Putin has once again given a big statement regarding his strong relations and strategic partnership with India. In his address at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), he openly praised India’s independent foreign policy and strategic autonomy. He also made it clear that countries trying to impose any kind of sanctions on India may have to face adverse and serious consequences.
Support for India’s independent policy
Putin said that India is a sovereign nation and it is fully capable of taking decisions based on its national interests. Praising the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that India does not accept any external pressure in its foreign policy. According to him, India always chooses the option which is best for its development and security.
Strict warning regarding restrictions
The Russian President also said that any kind of sanctions imposed against India would ultimately be counterproductive. According to him, such steps can prove harmful only for those countries which try to implement them. He clearly indicated that the policy of pressure and sanctions in global politics is no longer as effective as before.
No impact on India-Russia relations
Putin clarified that cooperation between India and Russia does not depend on any political conditions. Relations between the two countries have been strong for a long time and will remain stable in future also. He said that Russia will continue to advance its cooperation with reliable partners like India and external pressure will have no impact on this relationship.
India’s role in digital economy
Putin also praised India’s growing strength in the digital and IT sector. He said that India has become an important player in the global software and technology market. According to him, India’s technological capability and digital development is giving it a stronger position in the future global economy.
