Quad Summit 2026: Quad summit in Delhi, foreign ministers of America, Australia and Japan coming on India’s invitation
Delhi. The much-awaited meeting of the foreign ministers of the Quad countries will be held here on May 26, to attend which US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi are coming on an official visit to India. The Ministry of External Affairs said on Friday that the meeting will consider recent developments on the free and open Indo-Pacific region and other international issues of mutual importance.
India ready to host
The statement said that Foreign Minister Dr. S. At the invitation of Jaishankar, Ms Penny Wong, Mr Motegi and Mr Rubio will pay an official visit to New Delhi to attend the Quad Foreign Ministers’ meeting. The ministry has said that all the member countries will take forward the discussions held in Washington on July 1 last year in accordance with the vision of Quad for a free and open Indo-Pacific. They will exchange views on taking forward Quad cooperation in priority areas.
Hope for discussion on Indo-Pacific
Members will also review progress on existing Quad initiatives, and consider recent developments in the Indo-Pacific region and other international issues of mutual importance. During the visit, the Foreign Ministers of Australia and Japan and the US Secretary of State are also likely to hold bilateral meetings with External Affairs Minister Dr Jaishankar and call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Meanwhile, the US Embassy in India said the US stands in solidarity with the call for a free and open Indo-Pacific region. The embassy has said that Rabio’s visit to India will prove important in matters ranging from regional security to diversifying critical mineral supply chains.
“Standing together for a free and open Indo-Pacific. From supporting regional security to diversifying critical mineral supply chains, Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s upcoming visit to India underscores the importance of the Quad partnership,” the embassy said in a post on social media. It is noteworthy that the Quad meeting was being postponed for a long time. The importance of this meeting has increased even more in the current geopolitical circumstances.
