Alnmouth sits within one of Northumberland’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and as a result, the surrounding area is rich with unspoilt landscapes and diverse wildlife.
Alnmouth Beach is just one such gem, cherished by visitors and residents alike for its sweeping sandy shores, offering a truly wonderful coastal experience. One visitor said on TripAdvisor: “Nice wide sandy beach with convenient shops and cafes nearby. Parking right behind the beach. Not over-commercialised.”
Another added: “Really lovely beach! Was nice and quiet when we went so was so peaceful. Great place to chill on a day out. Good fun wading in the water! Would definitely return!”.
The beach permits dogs, making it perfect for the entire family, and is split into three sections, offering plenty of room for leisure activities. Many people opt to reach the beach via the Northumberland Coast Path, journeying from nearby towns and villages while admiring the breathtaking coastline.

A rural restaurant offering a hint of sophistication within the village is the charming Whittling House, which prides itself on serving locally sourced ingredients packed with flavour.
