Rahul Gandhi angry over re-evaluation fee, said – Beware of pickpockets, CBSE’s mistake, punishment to the child and earning to the government

New Delhi. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Monday made a scathing attack on the fee system implemented after the examination results of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). He said that students are being charged for scanned copies, re-totalling and re-evaluation, while in many cases the errors are in the process of the board itself.

What did Rahul write on social media?

Rahul Gandhi wrote on social media platform X that beware of pickpockets, today they are sitting inside CBSE. What do you get if marks are wrong due to CBSE mistake? A bill. Rs 100 per subject for digital scanned copy, Rs 100 per paper for re-totalling and Rs 25 per question for re-evaluation.

The question was raised that how much CBSE is earning?

He said that a student may have to spend up to Rs 2,000 to get his answer sheet properly checked. Rahul Gandhi claimed that around four lakh students have made such applications and raised the question as to how much CBSE is earning from this.

Serious allegations against the government

The Congress leader alleged that when scanning is done through mobile phones, it is natural for wrong evaluation to happen and then the student has to bear the cost of getting it corrected. He said that it is CBSE’s fault, the child is being punished and the government is earning money.

Rahul Gandhi further said that when education is turned into a business instead of a service, the mistakes are not corrected but are increased. Children have to pay the biggest price for this in the form of their time, confidence and future. He also alleged that widespread errors in assessment put additional burden on students who seek correction or revaluation of their marks.

CBSE assured strict monitoring

Meanwhile, amid the ongoing controversy over the On-Screen Marking (OSM) evaluation system, CBSE on Sunday said it has kept a close watch on the vulnerabilities identified in the OnMark portal of its service provider and deployed a team of cyber security experts to strengthen the system.

CBSE, in a statement issued on Thursday, said that a team of cyber security experts from various government agencies and Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have been working on making the portal secure for the last few days. According to the board, the identified vulnerabilities have been contained and efforts are ongoing to ensure that no other vulnerabilities remain in the system that can be misused.

CBSE also expressed its gratitude to the aware citizens and ethical hackers who reported potential security vulnerabilities. The board said that it has also directly communicated with some of these people and has taken their suggestions seriously.
