New Delhi. MPs of Congress and opposition parties are protesting loudly on the streets of Delhi on Tuesday against the Election Commission. Many leaders of INDIA block including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav participated in this march. Opposition MPs were moving towards the Election Commission office demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, but the police stopped them by placing barricades about 400 meters in advance.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi was seen holding a placard in his hand on which it was written 'Gyanesh, it's done bro'. Rahul Gandhi also shared its video on his X handle. In this way, he has taken a dig at Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in Gen-Z style.

Opposition MPs sitting on strike near barricading

After not being able to reach the Election Commission office, Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and other opposition MPs sat on strike near the barricades. Some Samajwadi Party leaders also climbed the barricade. The protesters also raised slogans of 'Vote thief, leave the throne'. Security was also increased on the spot. Paramilitary forces were brought near the protest site and police and security forces cordoned off the area from several sides. Two to three police buses were also parked nearby. During this time, more protesters kept reaching the spot.

Police said that permission was not taken for today's march. After this, some Congress MPs and opposition leaders including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were detained. However, Rahul Gandhi has not been detained and is sitting on a dharna along with other opposition MPs at the protest site.

During this demonstration, Congress made serious allegations against Gyanesh Kumar and demanded his resignation along with his arrest. The party even called him an agent of 'vote theft'. This demonstration of the opposition is taking place amidst the ongoing political controversy regarding the SIR process. Opposition parties are raising questions on the Election Commission, while the Election Commission has rejected any differences of opinion between the three Election Commissioners and said that decisions related to SIR have been taken unanimously.
