Rahul Gandhi was denied permission for the ‘Chhatraon Ki Goonj’ programme; Priyanka targeted the central government, saying, ‘What are you afraid of?

Lucknow: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi on Thursday criticized the denial of venue permission for the “Chhatraon Ki Goonj” event in Prayagraj. She said she couldn’t understand why the administration was afraid of the event.

What is the whole matter?

Earlier, the Kayastha Pathshala Trust denied permission to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘School Ki Goonj’ event, which was scheduled to be held at Prayagraj’s KP Ground on August 8. The KP College management revoked the permission previously granted for the use of its sports ground, citing academic concerns and an Allahabad High Court order.

Why was permission not granted?

In a letter addressed to the president of the Prayagraj City Congress Committee, acting president of Kayastha Pathshala, Chaudhary Jitendra Nath Singh, said the decision was taken after receiving information from the college principal and in view of the Allahabad High Court order dated August 14, 2025, which stressed that there should be no hindrance in the academic activities of the students.

Management stated that if the event is held on the scheduled date, students from two schools will be affected. They also expressed concern that rain could damage the outdoor playground, making repairs difficult and time-consuming.

What is written in the letter?

The letter stated, “Therefore, the date of the event should be scheduled in a manner that does not disrupt school activities. Considering the High Court’s decision and the current circumstances, please schedule your event on a date after the rainy season, during the holidays.”

Pawan Khera: Let them be scared, we will keep scaring them.

Speaking to reporters, Congress leader Pawan Khera said, “They fear Rahul Gandhi. You can see for yourself. They fear him both inside and outside Parliament. Let them be afraid; we will continue to intimidate them. They fear Rahul Gandhi. They don’t even face Rahul Gandhi in Parliament, and whenever Rahul Gandhi goes to raise the voice of students, they try to create obstacles. Let them do it. This is the power of students. This is the power of Rahul Gandhi. This is the power of the opposition. Their fear will not stand in the way. We will continue our work, and this program will definitely take place. We will also go there (to Prayagraj).”

MP Sanjay Raut said that ‘this is what is called emergency, dictatorship and tyranny.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said, “This is what is called emergency, dictatorship, and tyranny. You are afraid of opposition leader Rahul Gandhi. You are very scared. Because of this fear, even the Home Minister and the Prime Minister are not coming.”
