Rahul Gandhi’s attack on CBSE issue: PM Modi is only worried about the existence of his government, not about the future of children.

New Delhi29 May. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi attacked the Central Government over the irregularities in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence in this matter and no action being taken against the Education Minister shows that he is only concerned about the existence of his government and not about the future of lakhs of students.

Demand for independent judicial inquiry into the matter of award of contract to COEMPT

Rahul Gandhi, in a post on the social media platform ‘X’ on Friday, said that he has been demanding an independent judicial inquiry into the awarding of contracts to CBSE ‘On-Screen Marking’ (OSM) and ‘COEMPT’ from day one because the youth of the country have the right to know the truth. The Congress leader also shared media reports and called on people to read them carefully.

He alleged, “CBSE invited OSM tenders thrice. The first time there was not a single bid. The second time no bidder was found eligible. And finally the technical standards were lowered until ‘COEMPT’ crossed them. The scanning resolution was reduced. The requirement of robotic scanners was removed. CMMI certification was reduced from level-5 to level-3. For errors in the answer sheets, The provisions for fine were also removed.

Rahul Gandhi said, ‘TCS, India’s largest IT services company, had also qualified for the third round. But TCS lost the race and COEMPT won – a company with a record full of failures. And what are CBSE students complaining about today? Poorly scanned answer sheets, missing pages and a poor evaluation portal.’

Norms relaxed for COEMPT

He said teachers had warned CBSE that the OSM system required at least an additional year or two of preparation before nationwide implementation, yet it was rushed through. He said, ‘So I ask again – who wanted COEMPT to win? Who gradually lowered the standards so much that this company could exceed it?’

Rahul Gandhi said, “Pradhan ji and CBSE say that ‘legal process was followed’. This is not an answer, this is not accountability. The question is, was the contract honestly given to the best company that could have done the job properly?”

He said the future of 18.5 lakh children was handed over to a company that could qualify only when the rules were relaxed. He said, ‘To the BJP ministers who attacked me for asking questions – I demanded an independent judicial inquiry from day one. Extend it (investigation) to every contract given to CBSE to COEMPT. Our youth have the right to know the truth.

Rahul Gandhi said, ‘Modi ji, your silence on the CBSE mess and your inaction against the Education Minister tells the country what you really care about – not the future of millions of students, but only the survival of your government.’
