Rahul Gandhi’s big announcement, sat on dharna overnight outside the Prime Minister’s residence; Appealed to the countrymen to join the movement

The country’s politics became more heated over the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) paper leak case and police action against students. Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi along with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and MP Priyanka Gandhi marched towards the official residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the protest, Rahul Gandhi announced that he would sit on a dharna overnight outside the Prime Minister’s residence until his demands were met.

Appealing to the countrymen to join the movement through social media, Rahul Gandhi said that the attack on students is an attack on every family of the country. He said that the government cannot escape accountability on this issue and all citizens should come forward to get justice for the students.

Congress workers gathered from Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence in the afternoon and moved towards the Prime Minister’s residence. Security was tightened during the protest and Delhi Police deployed additional forces. Many protesters were also detained, although Congress leaders claimed that their demonstration was completely peaceful.

Amidst the demonstration, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Jitendra Singh reached the spot and talked to Rahul Gandhi for several minutes. According to sources, the government requested to end the protest, but no agreement could be reached between the two parties.

Congress leaders say they have two major demands—the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and a detailed discussion in Parliament on all the exam scams, including the NEET paper leak. Congress alleges that their protest will continue until the government takes a positive decision on these demands.

At the same time, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh claimed that earlier Rahul Gandhi was only demanding discussion in Parliament, but later he also added a new condition for the resignation of the Education Minister. He said that Congress’s stand changed during the talks, due to which no solution could be found.

Earlier, there was a clash between police and protesters during the Parliament march of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). Many protesters were injured after the police used lathicharge and tear gas. Delhi Police say the protest turned violent and policemen were pelted with stones, while protesters are accusing the police of using excessive force.

Accusing the central government of suppressing the voice of students, Rahul Gandhi said that even in the Parliament, the opposition was not given an opportunity to discuss this issue. He also demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take moral responsibility for this entire incident.

On the other hand, the monsoon session of Parliament was marred by uproar for the second consecutive day. The opposition tried to raise the issue of NEET paper leak and the crackdown on students, while the government said it was committed to making the examination system more transparent and secure.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in the NDA parliamentary party meeting that it is a national responsibility to stop incidents like paper leaks and strict action will be taken against the culprits. The government also reiterated that it will not compromise in any way with the future of the students.
