Rahul Gandhi’s statement in support of workers in Noida, expressed concern over the condition of workers
Rahul Gandhi: Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi spoke in support of the agitating workers in Noida. He said that what happened yesterday on the streets of Noida was the “last scream” of the workers of this country, which has continuously been unheard. Rahul Gandhi said that the workers are tired of continuously raising their demands, their voice was ignored.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said that the monthly income of a laborer working in Noida is around ₹ 12,000, while the rent reaches ₹ 4,000 to ₹ 7,000. He said that as long as an annual increment of ₹300 is received, the landlord increases the rent by ₹500. He further said that the slow pace of wage growth and rising inflation together make the life of workers difficult and push them into debt burden. This situation reflects the reality of “developed India”.
Imbalance in gas prices and wages
Rahul Gandhi quoted a woman laborer as saying that the price of gas cylinder keeps increasing, but there is no increase in her salary. In such times, people have to buy cylinders at expensive prices to light their home’s stove.
The Congress MP also said that this situation is not limited to Noida or India only, but fuel prices are increasing all over the world. The supply chain has been affected due to the war in West Asia, and the impact of America’s tariff war and global inflation is also clearly visible. However, he said that its biggest impact falls on the workers who earn their living daily, while its burden does not fall on “friendly” industrialists.
Workers’ wage demand and support
He also mentioned that the labor codes have been implemented by the government from November 2025 without adequate communication, which involves increasing the working hours to 12 hours.
Rahul Gandhi said that the Noida worker is demanding a salary of ₹ 20,000, which is not a matter of greed but a question related to his life and rights. He said that he stands with every worker who is the backbone of the country, but who is being ignored.
