Where is Rail Neer produced?
First, let’s tell you that Rail Neer isn’t just any ordinary packaged water; it’s a packaged drinking water brand from the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). The Railways has built plants in 19 cities across the country using the PPP model to produce this water. Maharashtra has three plants used for Rail Neer. Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh each have two plants each that help produce Rail Neer.
Where have these plants been installed?
These plants have been installed in many places across the country. In North India, these plants are located in Nangloi (Delhi), Hapur and Amethi (Uttar Pradesh), Una (Himachal Pradesh), and Kota (Rajasthan). Furthermore, four plants have been installed in Eastern and Northeastern India: Danapur (Bihar), Sankrail (West Bengal), Jagiroad (Assam), and Bhubaneswar (Odisha). Similarly, numerous plants have been installed throughout India. It is believed that these plants cost ₹10 crore to set up and have the capacity to produce 100,000 bottles of water daily.
How is water produced?
In simple terms, automatic plants are installed to produce Rail Neer. Normal water passes through an auto-softener unit, an activated carbon filter, and a reverse osmosis (RO) system. After this process is complete, ultraviolet (UV) treatment and ozonation are finally performed.
