New Delhi. Indian Railways has issued important instructions, providing relief to RAC passengers traveling in AC coaches. The Railway Ministry has clearly instructed all railway zones to provide a complete bedroll kit to every eligible passenger traveling on a RAC ticket, just like other passengers. This decision was taken after receiving repeated complaints from passengers.
Complaints were being received repeatedly
The Ministry of Railways has received complaints from various railway zones that many passengers traveling on RAC tickets were not being provided with sheets, blankets, and other essential linens. In several cases, complaints were also received of incomplete bedroll kits. Taking these complaints seriously, the Ministry has re-advised to ensure compliance with its previously issued instructions.
Equal rights to RAC passengers
The RAC system allows two passengers to travel on one berth. However, due to seat sharing, there have been frequent complaints of negligence in providing bedrolls to passengers. The Ministry has now clarified that every RAC passenger traveling in an AC coach (except AC chair car) will be provided with a complete bedroll kit, similar to other passengers with confirmed tickets.
What will you get in the bedroll kit?
As per the Railways’ standard arrangement, bedroll kits provide essential linen items for use during travel. These typically include sheets, blankets, pillow covers, and other prescribed items. Instructions have now been issued to provide the same facilities to eligible RAC passengers.
Passengers will get a more comfortable journey
This decision will also provide passengers traveling on RAC tickets with greater convenience and comfort during long-distance AC travel. This is expected to reduce passenger complaints and improve the quality of railway passenger services.
