Rajpal Yadav Check Bounce Case: Big decision of Delhi High Court, 3 months jail to Rajpal Yadav, fine of Rs 7.35 crore

New Delhi. Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has suffered a big setback in the check bounce case. The Delhi High Court has upheld his conviction in seven check bounce cases and sentenced him to three months’ simple imprisonment. Along with this, the court has also imposed a total fine of Rs 7.35 crore on him.

All sentences will run concurrently

In a hearing held on Friday, July 10, the Delhi High Court rejected Rajpal Yadav’s petitions challenging the lower court’s decision. The court sentenced three months each in all seven cases, but ordered all the sentences to run concurrently. This means that the actor will have to serve a total of three months in jail only.

Why did the court uphold the conviction?

A bench of Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma said that Rajpal Yadav was given several opportunities to comply with his undertaking given in the court, but he did not comply with it despite repeated opportunities. On this basis the court upheld the conviction.

Fine of Rs 7.35 crore

The court has imposed a fine of Rs 1.05 crore in each case. Thus, the total fine in all seven cases comes to Rs 7.35 crore.

According to the court order:

  • In each case, Rs 1 crore 4 lakh 75 thousand will be given to the complainant.
  • Rs 25 thousand will be paid to the state.
