Preparations have been completed in homes for this festival celebrated on the full moon day of Shravan month. According to the Panchang, this time there is no shadow of Bhadra on Rakshabandhan. Purnima Tithi started on 27th August at 9:08 am and will continue till 9:48 am on 28th August. Bhadra has already ended before sunrise, hence auspicious time will be available to tie Rakhi on Friday.

The most special time to tie Rakhi on Rakshabandhan is said to be from 5:57 am to 9:48 am. In this way, sisters have an auspicious time of about 3 hours 51 minutes to tie Rakhi. However, due to difference in sunrise time in different cities, there may be a difference of a few minutes in the Muhurta.

Before tying Rakhi, sisters decorate the puja thali. Keep roli or kumkum, akshat, lamp, sweets and rakhi in it. After applying Tilak to the brother, apply Akshat and then tie Raksha Sutra.
