Actor Rakul Preet Singh reacted to the controversy over her husband, actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani’s, remarks, describing their marriage as a “situationship.”
On Friday the 35-year-old actress shared a screenshot of the statement that went viral.
She suggested that his words had been turned into a clickbait headline and did not reflect the full context of what he meant.
In a note posted on his Instagram Stories, the Kick 2 star said one line from a much longer conversation had been isolated and amplified.
“We had a great laugh today about how one line from an hour-long conversation can suddenly become the headline. Funny… until it’s not. Context matters. Nuance matters. Conversation deserve better than being reduced to clickbait. Maybe it’s time platforms take a little more responsibility for the narratives they create,” she wrote.
The comment came up during a chat with the YouTube channel They are bad. When asked about his marriage to the De De Pyaar De actor, Bhagnani said both of them have already gone through enough phases in life and were not searching for someone to complete anything missing.
He went on to describe their bond in his own way, saying, “Rakul and I are married, but we are like in a situationship, which is, of course, we are exclusive to each other, because that’s why we are married. But the most important thing is that I can talk to her about anything.”
The word “situationship” quickly caught attention online and became the main takeaway from the interview, with many focusing only on that part.
Rakul and Jackky had been together for around three years before getting married on February 21, 2024, in Goa.
