Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited Ramayana has finally arrived in theatres worldwide on Thursday, November 5, ahead of the Diwali weekend. With impressive advance bookings and strong audience interest, the Ranbir Kapoor and Yash-starrer has opened on a promising note at the box office.
The Ramayana box office collection has become one of the biggest talking points among moviegoers, with the film targeting an opening that could put it among the biggest Bollywood blockbusters. Ramayana Advance Booking Creates Box Office History
Advance bookings for Ramayana opened on Dussehra, October 21, around 15 days before its theatrical release. However, the pre-sales gained momentum after exhibitors and distributors resolved their differences last week.
By the time of its release, the film had reportedly sold tickets worth ₹200 crore worldwide. India alone contributed more than ₹120 crore to the advance booking figures. Meanwhile, opening-day advance sales accounted for approximately ₹45 crore in gross collections in India.
The impressive pre-release numbers indicated strong audience interest and raised expectations for a massive opening.

Ramayana Box Office Collection Day 1 Update
Ramayana witnessed packed morning shows across several parts of India on its opening day. According to early trade estimates, the film collected ₹40.97 crore net in India by 5 PM on Thursday.
The Hindi version has emerged as a major contributor to the opening-day collections. Despite Yash playing Ravana, the Kannada version reportedly started slowly, contributing around ₹5 crore at the time of the update.
The Telugu version has performed well, while the Tamil and Malayalam versions have recorded comparatively modest collections.
With evening and night shows still remaining, the film is expected to add significantly to its opening-day total.
Can Ramayana Beat Dhurandhar 2, Jawan And Pathaan?
With its strong advance bookings and encouraging initial response, Ramayana is targeting an opening-day collection of over ₹70 crore net in India.
If it achieves this figure, the film could surpass the opening-day collections of several major Bollywood releases. These include Pathaan, which collected approximately ₹57 crore, Animal with ₹63 crore and Drishyam 2 with ₹62 crore.
The film is also aiming to challenge Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which opened at approximately ₹75 crore in India.
However, the biggest challenge remains Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2. The film holds the opening-day record with a reported ₹102.55 crore India net collection, excluding its paid previews.
For Ramayana, crossing the ₹100 crore mark on its opening day would be a significant achievement. Whether the film manages to challenge Dhurandhar 2’s record will depend on its evening occupancy, night shows and final trade figures.
