Ranabaali ticket price hike denied by makers

Hyderabad: Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s upcoming period action drama Ranabaali will release in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana at standard ticket prices, the makers have clarified, dismissing reports of a proposed hike in admission rates.

Mythri Movie Makers, the production house behind the film, said it has not applied for any ticket price increase in either of the Telugu states. The clarification came on October 4 after reports suggested that the makers were seeking an additional Rs 50 on ticket prices in Andhra Pradesh.

The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres worldwide on October 16, 2026, coinciding with the Dussehra festive period.

Mythri Movie Makers dismiss ticket hike reports

The ticket-price speculation prompted an official clarification from Mythri Movie Makers on social media.

The production house said reports that it had approached the Andhra Pradesh government seeking a ticket-price hike were false. It also made clear that no such request had been submitted in either Andhra Pradesh or Telangana.

The makers further confirmed that Ranabaali would be released at standard ticket prices.

The clarification is significant because large Telugu releases have often sought government approval for enhanced ticket prices, particularly around premieres, special shows and the opening days of a theatrical run.

In the case of Ranabaali, however, audiences in the two Telugu states will not have to pay an additional amount on account of a special price hike.

Film to release at standard rates

Mythri Movie Makers said the film would maintain standard ticket pricing across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The production house also expressed confidence that the film would offer audiences a strong theatrical experience during the festive season.

With Ranabaali arriving during the Dussehra period, the makers are looking to benefit from the holiday season and the increased theatrical footfall typically associated with major festive releases.

The decision to retain standard rates could also make the film more accessible to audiences at a time when ticket pricing has become an important consideration for moviegoers.

Ranabaali gets a Dussehra release

Ranabaali is set for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16.

The film had earlier been scheduled for September 11 but was subsequently postponed. The new release date places the movie in the Dussehra holiday window, giving it a prominent position in the festive theatrical calendar.

Directed by Rahul Sankrityan and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film is mounted as a period action drama and marks another collaboration between Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna.

The two actors have previously appeared together in Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. Ranabaali marks their latest on-screen collaboration and their first film together since their marriage earlier this year.

Vijay plays the titular character

Vijay Deverakonda plays the titular character in Ranabaali, while Rashmika Mandanna portrays Jayamma, his wife and companion in the story.

The film is set against the backdrop of the Madras Famine of 1876–78, one of the devastating famines of the colonial period. The story follows a rebellious warrior who stands against oppression while attempting to protect his people and region.

Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo plays Sir Theodore Hector, a British colonial official and one of the central antagonistic figures in the film. The historical setting and conflict with colonial authority form a major part of the film’s narrative.

Promotions gather pace ahead of release

With the October 16 release date approaching, the makers have stepped up promotional activities around the film.

The team has also adopted a different promotional strategy by introducing a documentary-style series titled Never Forget, which explores the historical backdrop associated with the film. The series focuses on the Madras Famine and seeks to provide audiences with greater context about the period depicted in the movie.

The film’s promotional campaign has also highlighted the reunion of Vijay and Rashmika, whose pairing remains one of the major attractions for Telugu cinema audiences.

No additional burden for Telugu-state audiences

The clarification from Mythri Movie Makers puts an end, for now, to speculation over increased ticket prices for Ranabaali in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Instead of seeking enhanced rates, the production house has confirmed that the film will be screened at standard ticket prices in both Telugu states.

As the movie heads towards its October 16 release, attention will now shift to its advance bookings, promotional events and the response to the period drama when it reaches theatres.

For Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, Ranabaali represents a major theatrical reunion, while its Dussehra release gives the film an opportunity to attract audiences during one of the year’s important festive periods.
