Mumbai: Ranbir Kapoor had a witty response to Sai Pallavi’s decision to pursue acting after completing her MBBS, joking that it was God’s prescription for the actor to enter the film industry.
The exchange features in an upcoming episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, featuring the cast of Ramayana.
“You studied to become a doctor. And then you ended up here. How?” Bachchan asks Sai.
In response, Sai says, “God wrote it that you act,” suggesting that fate had other plans for her.
When her explanation leaves Bachchan perplexed, Ranbir steps in with a humorous remark.
“Bhagwan ka prescription tha, Sir (God wrote in his prescription) that she has to act,” he quips, drawing cheers and applause from the audience.
In another promo, Sai Pallavi recalls her initial reaction when she was offered the role of Sita in Ramayana.
“I didn’t want to use my head this time. Every time when I play a character, I think, ‘What can I give to that character?’ But this was the first time when I thought, ‘What can I get for playing a role like that of Sita Maa? Like, what knowledge will I gain from this?’ So, I wanted to keep the process transparent. I didn’t want to think about anything. I prayed to Sita Maa and went forward with it,” she says.
Special episodes featuring the Ramayana cast are scheduled to air on October 29 and 30.
Meanwhile, the team has been promoting the film in cities such as Kolkata, Hyderabad and Chennai ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on November 5, just days before Diwali.
Helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, the mythological epic features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshmana, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.
The ensemble cast also includes Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal and Vivek Oberoi in pivotal roles.
Reportedly mounted on a budget of ₹4,000 crore, the film is backed by Yash and Namit Malhotra and is planned as a two-part franchise.
The first instalment is slated to release in theatres on November 5, 2026, while the second part is expected to arrive around Diwali 2027.
