Ranbir Kapoor and Indian director Nitesh Tiwari have been receiving massive love and respect globally for the success of Ramayana.
The duo and the other castmates have been promoting the film worldwide together.
The director and actor duo also appeared for a chat with Screen Rant, where they addressed the similarities between Ramayana and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, as both of them feature a significant scene involving a bow.
According to Kapoor, the Ramayana story has been written in their text for 4000 years ago. Therefore, when he watched the Odyssey, it instantly felt like it was inspired from Ramayana.
“To be honest, it’s written in our text 4,000 years ago. So actually, when I saw Odyssey, I thought, ‘That’s from Ramayana.’ Exactly. But yeah, sweet coincidence. I love The Odyssey. I love Christopher Nolan. But yeah, doing Ramayana had a very different feeling”, he stated.
Meanwhile, director Nitesh believes that Ramayana is oldest epic than Homer’s Odyssey and, in a way, he feels that Homer wrote the poem with the influence of Ramayana.
“Ramayana is the oldest epic, and I believe Homer was inspired by Ramayana in some way; having written those bits in Odyssey.”
Tiwari continued to the tell the publication, “I felt very happy that our greatest epic has got a tribute in another epic which belongs to the West side, and it’s going to make it very easier for the people to also connect with what we were trying to bring to the West also.”
The fantasy drama features Ranbir alongside Yash, Sai Pallavi, Ravi Dubey and Rakul Preet.
