There was curiosity among the audience for a long time about the film Ramayana starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles. This grand offering, which reached the theaters on November 5, showed its strength at the ticket windows even before its release. A large number of audiences across the country had already reserved seats for the film. Initial sales figures for six days have presented a strong picture for the business. However, despite selling such a large number of tickets, it could not achieve the record of the largest advance booking of a Hindi film till date. The performance of two other films has been ahead of this.
The number of people who bought tickets in advance reached lakhs
According to data available with SACNL, the film recorded sales of around 36.37 lakh tickets across a total of 1,08,169 shows in India for the period from November 5 to 10. The net earning of the film from this pre-release business is said to be around Rs 105.12 crore. At the same time, the gross earning figure reached approximately Rs 130.12 crore. These figures show that the audience has already shown a lot of interest in the film.
Highest demand for tickets for the first day
The enthusiasm of the spectators was most visible for the inauguration day. According to available details, around 14.05 lakh tickets were sold in 26,615 shows on the first day. A net turnover of about Rs 50.08 crore was recorded from their sale. For the second day, 5.76 lakh tickets were purchased, resulting in an earning of around Rs 22.25 crore. On the third day, a business of Rs 24.77 crore was done with 6.53 lakh tickets sold. Thus, audience demand remained quite strong for the first three days.
Ticket sales continued from fourth to sixth day
If we look at the figures of the next three days of the film, 4.84 lakh tickets were already sold for the fourth day. An earning of about Rs 16.09 crore was recorded from these. Advance sales on the fifth day stood at 3.56 lakh tickets, earning around Rs 13.25 crore. For the sixth day also, 1.63 lakh tickets were purchased and this resulted in a business of about Rs 3.68 crore.
Ramayana lagged behind two big films
Despite strong ticket sales, Ramayan did not succeed in surpassing the top two advance booking achievements of Hindi films. The two big films that came before this had recorded better figures in this regard. This is the reason why despite huge demand, the position of Ramayana is being said to be at third place.
Preparations for demonstrations in more than a hundred countries
A wide release has been planned to take the film to an international audience. As per the available information, it is being released in around 40 languages in more than 100 countries. Apart from Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, its grand presentation, mythological storyline and modern visual techniques are also said to be the major parts of the attraction.
