Ras Laffan accident: Bodies of 4 out of 12 Indians sent to India, embassy preparing to bring the remaining 8

After the tragic accident in Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City, the work of bringing back the dead bodies to India has started. Many Indians lost their lives in an explosion at a gas facility here. The Indian Embassy in Doha has now shared information about this process.

The embassy said that a total of 12 Indian citizens had died, out of which bodies of 4 were being flown to India on Thursday, 25 June 2026. Efforts are being made to bring the bodies of the remaining 8 people to India as soon as possible. The embassy has given complete information about this to the families of the deceased and the concerned authorities.

This accident took place on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at the Barzan Local Gas Supply Plant in Ras Laffan Industrial City. It is reported that due to some technical fault during the operation, there was an explosion and fire. Qatar’s Interior Ministry initially reported 13 deaths and 66 injuries, of which 12 were Indians.

  • Qatar Government: Saad bin Saud al-Kaabi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy and CEO of QatarEnergy, visited the embassy on 24 June to express his condolences.

The Embassy has also inquired about the condition of those Indians who were injured in this accident and their health is being monitored. The Embassy has expressed gratitude to the Qatar administration and Indian community organizations for their cooperation in this difficult time. At present, technical investigation into the cause of the blast is going on. Officials have clarified that this was an industrial accident and it has not affected Qatar’s LNG exports.
