Desk. The first test against Sri Lanka has become memorable for Ravindra Jadeja. After not being able to play a big innings with the bat, Jadeja achieved such a feat with the ball, which placed him in the league of the select legendary all-rounders of Test cricket. Jadeja has become only the fourth all-rounder in the world to complete the double of more than 4000 runs and 350 wickets in Test cricket.
On 17 August, on the third day of the first Test between India and Sri Lanka, Jadeja took two wickets in Sri Lanka's first innings. He made Dhananjay de Silva and Keshara Nuwantha his victims. With these two wickets, the number of wickets in his Test career reached 350. Earlier in the Indian innings, 13 runs had come off Jadeja's bat. Although, his contribution in batting may not have been much in this match, but by taking two wickets in bowling, he registered his name in the pages of history.
Before Jadeja, only three all-rounders in Test cricket could score 4000 or more runs and take 350 wickets. This special list includes India's Kapil Dev, England's Ian Botham and New Zealand's Daniel Vettori. Kapil Dev is at the forefront of this list. Daniel Vettori of New Zealand has taken 4531 runs and 362 wickets in 113 test matches. Jadeja has achieved this milestone in just 90 tests. This is what makes his achievement more special, because among the four all-rounders included in this club, Jadeja is the only player who has achieved this feat by playing less than 100 Test matches.
Jadeja has also made a special list in Indian Test cricket by touching the figure of 350 wickets. He has become the fifth Indian bowler to take 350 or more wickets in Test cricket. Anil Kumble tops this list with 619 wickets. After him, Ravichandran Ashwin has taken 537, Kapil Dev has taken 434 and Harbhajan Singh has taken 417 Test wickets.
