New Delhi: Even though the process of departure of monsoon from the country has started gradually, its impact has not diminished yet. Once again a new round of torrential rains is going to begin in many states. According to the Meteorological Department, a low pressure area has formed in the Bay of Bengal, due to which the weather conditions in the eastern, southern and central parts of the country are likely to deteriorate in the coming days. During September 20 to 26, severe warnings of thunderstorm, lightning and extremely heavy rain have been issued in many states including North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Vidarbha.
Possibility of torrential rain in the plains
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the states of Eastern India will see widespread heavy rains during September 20 to 26.
Heavy rainfall is expected in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Ganga plains West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Bihar.
Weather patterns will deteriorate in the states of South India
Particularly on 23rd and 24th September, there will be extremely heavy rainfall over southern Odisha and northern Andhra Pradesh, while on 24th September, there will be extremely heavy rainfall over southern Chhattisgarh. Along with this, an alert has also been issued for thunderstorms with strong winds and moderate to severe lightning in Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar between September 20 and 26. There will be continuous rainfall activities in various parts of South India from 20th to 26th September.
There is a possibility of heavy rain in large parts of Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Coastal and Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. There is a possibility of intermittent heavy rain with lightning and thunder over many areas of Lakshadweep, Kerala and Karnataka during 20 to 25 September. Heavy rains along with strong winds may wreak havoc in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during September 22 to 24.
Weather will change in North-West India and UP also
In the context of North-West India, the Meteorological Department has warned that the effect of monsoon will be clearly visible on Uttar Pradesh also. There is a possibility of torrential rain in Eastern Uttar Pradesh between 24 to 26 September and in Western Uttar Pradesh between 25 to 26 September. There will be widespread heavy rain with thunder and lightning over eastern UP on September 25 and 26, which may affect life. In the rest of North-West India also, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of thunderstorm and lightning.
