Bhopal. As per the guidelines of Solid Waste Management Rules-2026, Municipal Corporation Bhopal is taking action to manage waste in the city as per the prescribed standards. Vallabh Bhawan complex was voluntarily registered as Bulk Waste Generator (BWG). According to the Swachh Bharat Mission wing, so far more than 100 institutions, including private and government buildings like malls, have registered with BWG.
Bhopal Municipal Corporation will now bring its main building Atal Bhawan and other big government buildings under the ambit of the mandatory bulk waste generator registration system. Registration of Satpura Bhawan, Vindhyachal Bhawan, District Court and Atal Bhawan can be done this month. According to the information, letters are being sent to big institutions across the city instructing them to complete the registration process and follow the new rules of waste management.
Additional Commissioner Aman Mishra said that 125 big waste producers have been registered as bulk waste generators. The Municipal Corporation building has also been registered. Soon other big buildings will also be registered.
Garbage disposal fee for government offices Rs 2400 per tonne
According to the new rules, Rs 2400 per tonne will be charged for garbage disposal from central and state government offices. Residential colonies will be charged Rs 2100 per tonne. Whereas government institutions involved in commercial activities will have to pay Rs 2700 per tonne. The rules also promote waste segregation. Institutions will be charged Rs 922 per tonne for separating wet and dry waste and sending it to the transfer station. Whereas if the garbage is not separated, the fee will increase. That means 150 percent fine will be imposed on institutions.
