Clean Energy Plan of Rekha Gupta Government: ‘Solar Tree’ will be installed in Delhi; Know its benefits and how it works

Delhi first Solar Tree: Rekha Gupta Government of Delhi is going to plant ‘Solar Tree’ in Delhi while taking forward the clean energy scheme. There is a plan to plant the first ‘solar tree’ in the capital Delhi in the secretariat building. This will be the first ‘solar tree’ to be planted in Delhi. After this, they can be spread all over Delhi under the Delhi Government’s campaign to adopt clean energy. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and ministers and senior officials of the Delhi government sit in the Delhi Secretariat.

Officials said that such solar trees can be seen in many cities of the world and soon Delhi will also have its own solar tree. He also said that the electricity department of Delhi government is working on a plan to set up a solar plant.

He told that solar tree is a type of photovoltaic (PV) panel which is installed in a tree-like structure to convert sunlight into maximum energy. Officials said that apart from PV panels, metal frame, plastic and other materials are used to give the entire solar setup a tree-like shape. Designs can vary depending on the level of innovation involved. Sunlight absorbed by the solar tree’s PV panels is converted into electricity and stored in a battery located at the base of the structure. Additionally, the panels are designed to rotate and absorb more sunlight over time.

What is the difference between solar system and solar tree?

Generally, a solar system installed on rooftop or ground requires a very wide space, but Solar Tree uses vertical space. Its structure consists of a main metal part (trunk) in the middle, with branches like parts protruding at right angles so that solar panels can be installed on them.
