Delhi Water Bill: If water bill is outstanding then this news is very important for you. Rekha Gupta Government has given good news to the people of Delhi regarding the outstanding water bills. Delhi government has extended the date of Late Payment Surcharge (LPSC) waiver scheme on outstanding water bills till March 31, 2027.

Delhi Jal Board has extended the deadline for 100% LPSC waiver till 31 March 2027. Earlier its date was till 15th August. After this decision of Rekha Gupta government, now Delhiites can get exemption from entire LPSC by paying the principal amount.

The Delhi government claims that this decision will provide relief to lakhs of consumers whose water bills have been outstanding for a long time and due to the delay, heavy LPSC has been added to the original bill. According to the Delhi Government, under this scheme, eligible consumers will get rebate in LPSC on outstanding water bills as per the prescribed conditions. That is, consumers can reduce the burden of additional surcharge by paying the original outstanding amount.

Delhi Water Minister Pravesh Verma has shared a post on social media giving information about the government's decision. In which he said that for many families in Delhi, old water bills remain a cause of worry for years. It is about giving them a chance to end that matter once and for all with some relief. The minister said that just pay the principal amount and the entire LPSC will be waived off. He said that if the water bill is outstanding, do not let it increase further. Avail this opportunity, clear your dues and move ahead without the burden of LPSC.

Deadline extended earlier also

Delhi government had earlier also extended the deadline of this scheme. In the initial scheme, there was a provision to give up to 100% rebate in LPSC to domestic and government consumers on payment within the stipulated period. Currently its deadline was 15th August, which has now been extended to 31st March 2027.

What is the meaning of LPSC?

LPSC stands for Late Payment Surcharge i.e. additional fee imposed on late bill payment. Under the LPSC Waiver Scheme of Delhi Jal Board, eligible consumers are being given complete exemption from this additional surcharge. In simple words, if late payment surcharge has been added to the principal amount of the water bill, then the surcharge amount can be waived off if the principal outstanding amount is deposited within the stipulated time limit. So far, more than 4.5 lakh domestic consumers and 11.4 thousand commercial consumers have availed the benefit of this scheme.
