US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday visited the massive campus of Reliance Industries in Jamnagar, Gujarat. During this, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his family welcomed the American delegation.
Marco Rubio Reliance Refinery Visit: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited Reliance Industries' refinery, Vantara and new energy manufacturing complex in Jamnagar, Gujarat. During this, important issues like energy, investment, modern technology and supply chain were discussed with Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and other senior officials of the company. This visit has taken place at a time when efforts are underway to strengthen trade relations between America and India and increase cooperation in the energy sector.
India's huge oil refining capacity is also a key reference point of Rubio's visit. America wants India to consider the possibilities of processing crude oil coming from Venezuela and increasing the purchase of American energy products. However, no formal announcement of any new energy agreement was revealed during this visit.
Ambani family welcomed Marco Rubio
According to reports, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and Executive Director Anant Ambani welcomed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, his wife Jeanette DosDebs Rubio and US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore. The US delegation visited Reliance's huge refining complex in Jamnagar. Here he was given information about the refinery's capacity, modern technology and integrated operation system. The delegation also visited Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center Vantara and Reliance's new energy manufacturing complex.
Information about data centers under construction and new energy related manufacturing projects was also shared during the visit. These initiatives are being linked to the vast possibilities of investment in modern technology, industrial development and energy sector.
Discussion on energy security and supply chain
During the talks held at the Reliance campus, topics like reliable energy supply, digital infrastructure, new technology and strong supply chains were prominent. Both sides also discussed the possibilities of business cooperation in the conventional energy as well as green energy sector. Jamnagar has long been a major center of Reliance's energy business.
The company's refining capacity and access to global markets give it an important position in the international energy trade. In such a situation, this visit of the American delegation is being considered important in terms of the possibilities of energy cooperation between India and America.
America's eye on India's refining capacity
Before reaching Jamnagar, Marco Rubio had praised India's oil refining capacity. According to the report, America wants India to increase the processing of Venezuelan crude oil and also focus on purchasing American energy products. Reliance's Jamnagar complex is among the largest single-site refining complexes in the world. According to available information, its capacity to process crude oil is about 14 lakh barrels per day. Diesel and other petroleum products produced here are supplied to the domestic market as well as international markets.
India's refining capacity is important for many countries, including the US, because it can convert crude oil into different petroleum products and transport it to global markets.
Reliance is also associated with the proposed refinery in Texas
Reliance Industries is also involved in the proposed refinery project in Brownsville, Texas, USA. This project is being developed by American company America First Refining. The capacity of the proposed plant is said to be to process approximately 1.68 lakh barrels of crude oil per day. According to the plan, this refinery is being prepared to process light shale crude produced in America.
Reliance has also entered into a long-term agreement for purchasing refined products from the project. However, the timelines related to completion and commencement of operations of the project will be separately important.
