Relief for Delhi citizens: Correction in birth-death certificate now online
An important facility is being prepared for the residents of areas falling under New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). Under this, people will now be able to apply online for correction in birth and death certificates while sitting at home. According to the proposed system, citizens of New Delhi will visit the official portal of NDMC and enter mobile number and Aadhaar card information. After this, by uploading the necessary supporting documents, they will be able to apply for amendment in the certificate. According to officials, the aim of this new digital system is to relieve citizens from visiting offices and make the processes more transparent and faster.
Expecting to get the facility within 1 month
At present, the residents of New Delhi have to personally go to the Birth and Death Registration Office located at Mandir Marg and submit the application for any kind of amendment. This process is completely offline, which consumes both time and paperwork. However, the final version of the complete online system for correction of birth and death certificates is still in the approval process. According to the official, this new digital system will be implemented only after it gets formal approval from the NDMC chairman.
The official said that birth and death certificates are extremely important government documents, which are used in education, banking, property related transactions and many other official functions. Keeping this in mind, strong security measures will be implemented in the proposed online correction system. Its purpose is to ensure that only authorized persons can use this service and to prevent any unauthorized tampering of documents.
