Relief to electricity consumers in UP, rules instead of electricity bill!
Lucknow. The government has taken a big and relief decision for the electricity consumers in Uttar Pradesh. Amidst the technical problems and consumer dissatisfaction regarding smart prepaid meters for a long time, the government has now abolished the prepaid system. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, all electricity connections will be made in postpaid mode again.
Now you will get bill and payment time as before.
Under the new system, consumers will pay the bill after using electricity as before. Every month’s consumption bill will be sent through SMS or WhatsApp by 10th of the next month and 15 days will be given for payment. This will provide relief to consumers from the worry of sudden power cuts and recharge.
More than 83 lakh connections will be postpaid
From last year till now, lakhs of smart meters were installed in the state, out of which a large number were in prepaid mode. Now more than 83 lakh connections will be converted to postpaid mode again. The special thing is that there will be no need to change the meter, rather the mode will be changed only through technical command.
Installment facility on old dues
Giving relief to the consumers, the government has given the facility to pay the outstanding electricity bills till April 30 in 10 easy installments. This will provide relief to those who were unable to make the lump sum payment.
Security amount in four installments
After switching from prepaid to postpaid, security amount will be taken from the consumers, but it will have to be deposited in four installments and not in lump sum. This will not impose additional financial burden on consumers. Special camps will be organized in May and June to solve problems related to electricity bills. Apart from this, consumers will also be able to register their complaints through 1912 helpline.
