Renault Bridger Leaked: Rugged New SUV With Jimny-Like Design And CNG Option Coming Soon – Breaking News & Live Updates Today

To increase its share in the Indian sub-compact SUV segment, French automaker Renault is preparing a major and innovative move. Renault India has officially filed a design patent for its upcoming and unique sub-4 meter lifestyle SUV, the Renault Bridger, for the domestic market.

These leaked patent images clearly indicate that this new vehicle will be a departure from the traditional rounded design of crossovers already available in the market. The company will position it directly below the upcoming new-generation Duster.

Powerful Design

The Renault Bridger’s biggest USP and highlight is its uniquely boxy and upright body. Leaked patent images clearly indicate that Renault has focused on creating a traditional and rugged SUV rather than a simple, smooth crossover.

The front of the car features a very wide front grille with mesh detailing. Sleek and modern LED headlights flank the grille, extending to the front fenders. To give the car a muscular appearance, the bumper features a thick black cladding and a gleaming silver skid plate at the bottom, providing protection from the underside on rough terrain.

Exterior

The SUV’s side and rear profiles are designed to be extremely practical and adventure-ready. Its rugged, rugged appearance feels significantly more robust than the current Renault Kiger.

The car features heavy black body cladding on all four wheel arches and the lower portion of the doors. The roof is completely flat, with roof rails and a contrasting black roof, giving it a sporty dual-tone effect. It also features stylish 5-spoke star-shaped alloy wheels with a dark finish.

At the rear, you’ll find an upright tailgate, a large rear glass area, and blacked-out D-pillars. Most notably, the spare wheel is mounted on the tailgate, just like true off-roaders, adding to its muscular appearance. For luggage, it boasts a generous 400-litre boot space.

RGMP Platform

In terms of technical components, the Renault Brezzer will be built on the company’s all-new and state-of-the-art RGMP (Renault Global Modular Platform). This is the same robust platform that underpins the upcoming new-generation Duster. This platform is so advanced that it can easily support all types of powertrains, including petrol, CNG, hybrid, and pure electric (EV).

The SUV will initially be launched with a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine and a more powerful turbo-petrol engine option. Like Maruti, Renault may also include a factory-fit CNG variant from day one to further reduce the cost. The patent image shows dual fuel opening lines alongside the conventional fuel filler cap, clearly indicating the combination of petrol and CNG.

Furthermore, the company may also offer a 48V mild-hybrid setup with the turbo engine to further improve fuel efficiency. Globally, development is underway on an all-wheel drive (AWD) and pure electric version (Bridger EV).

Launch Timeline, Expected Pricing, and Market Strategy

The Renault Bridger is being designed and developed in India specifically for India and select global markets. Consequently, Renault will manufacture most of its components locally at its plant near Chennai (heavy localization).

Regarding the launch, the production-ready Renault Bridger is expected to be officially launched in the Indian market by mid-next year (2027). Due to this heavy localization, the company is expected to keep its starting price aggressively, ranging between ₹7 lakh and ₹13 lakh (approximately ₹1.3 million), allowing it to easily bridge the gap between the Kiger and Duster.
