The French automaker Renault has officially revealed its new Niagara pickup truck for the South American market. It is based on the same RGMP platform as the new-generation Duster. But the Niagara is a lifestyle-oriented dual-cab pickup which combines SUV-like features and comfort with the practicality of a pickup truck. It will be manufactured at Renault’s Santa Isabel plant in Argentina and is scheduled to launch in Brazil in November 2026.
The Renault Duster Niagara pickup measures 4,940 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width and 1,720 mm in height. As for its wheelbase, it stands at 2,960 mm. The 4X2 version is slightly shorter at 4,910 mm. Meanwhile, its ground clearance stands at 233 mm, which will help the pickup deal with rough roads and light off-road trails.
The Niagara also gets a 938-litre cargo bed with a payload capacity of 654 kg. Its towing capacity has been rated at 710 kg, and it will get a rigid tonneau cover as standard. The roof bars and optional restyled roll bars will add to its lifestyle pickup truck appearance and can also be used to carry or secure larger items.
Now coming to the exterior design highlights of the Renault Duster Niagara, it will boast a very upright front end, high bonnet and large black grille.
The grille houses the Renault name in a pixel-style chrome finish, and it will also get full-LED headlamps, gloss-black surrounds and a unique lighting signature. The lower bumper also gets LED fog lamps, black body protection and a skid plate-inspired element which gives the pickup a more rugged appearance.
From the side, the Duster Niagara gets squared wheel arches, chunky body cladding, and body-coloured door handles. The pronounced shoulders and strong character lines make it look a lot bigger than the outgoing Oroch. The integration between the passenger cabin and cargo bed has also been designed to give the pickup a more SUV-like appearance.
At the rear, the Niagara gets LED tail lights with a design similar to the Boreal. The black strip between the lights also widens the tailgate. It also gets ‘NIAGARA’ name stamped directly into the metal. The 4X4 badge has been positioned above the rear fender on the top-spec version.
The Niagara will also get large alloy wheels wrapped in chunky all-terrain-style tyres. Depending on the variant, Renault will offer 17-inch or 18-inch wheels. The squared wheel arches and black cladding around them further add to the pickup’s off-road-focused styling.
Moving inside, the Duster Niagara borrows a lot of elements from the Boreal in terms of dashboard design and technology. It gets a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google built-in. The system also supports Google Gemini AI, allowing more natural voice-based interactions compared to conventional preset commands.
The Niagara gets a layered dashboard with a large central display, digital instrument cluster and a modern centre console. OpenR Link, Google Gemini, Multi-Sense and customisable ambient lighting will also be offered.
The centre console features a rotary drive-mode selector alongside the compact automatic gear selector. This setup is particularly relevant for the Niagara’s top-spec 4×4 version, which will offer additional control over different driving conditions.
The rear seats get a 25-degree recline function, and there is 36 litres of storage space behind the rear seat backrest. USB Type-C ports are also offered. However, unlike the Boreal, the Niagara does not get a sunroof or Harman Kardon sound system.
In terms of safety and driver assistance, the Niagara gets a comprehensive ADAS package. It includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane keep assist, collision warning with automatic braking and blind spot warning. Other features include a 360-degree camera, speed-limit sign recognition, emergency braking in reverse and automatic parking.
All variants of the Duster Niagara will use Renault’s 1.3-litre turbo-petrol flex-fuel four-cylinder engine. It will produce 156 bhp on petrol and 160 bhp on pure ethanol, with a torque output of 270 Nm with both fuels.
Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic. Now, while most variants will be front-wheel drive, the top-spec Outsider version will get 4×4. This will give the Niagara an advantage over the outgoing Oroch in Brazil. Renault has also confirmed plans to introduce hybrid powertrains in Brazil from 2027. The company has not yet confirmed which model will receive the hybrid system.
At the moment, there are no reports which have mentioned the Duster Niagara’s launch in India. Most likely, it will not be launched in India because Renault might not want to offer a niche product in the Indian market as it is already not selling a lot of cars in the country.
