Renault Duster Owner Shares Why He Bought It Over Hyundai Creta & Kia Seltos [Video]

Renault launched the Duster last month, and official deliveries for the SUV have now started in different parts of the country. The keys to the first Duster were recently handed over by the Renault Global CEO to its owner. We have already started seeing videos and images of customers posing with their new cars, and now we have come across a video where a Renault Duster owner shares his experience after buying the SUV and explains why he chose it over the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

The video has been shared by RNK Autos on their YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger interacts with the owner who bought the SUV. He already owns a Carens Clavis and was looking for a 5-seater SUV for city use and occasional long trips.

While exploring options in this segment, he considered the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and the recently launched Tata Sierra. The owner mentioned that he did not want the Creta because it is too common on the roads. Next was the Kia Seltos—he liked the older generation model but felt that the new generation looks more like a crossover than a proper SUV. Finally, he considered the Sierra. While it seemed like a great product on paper, he was unsure about the after-sales service, fit and finish, and overall service experience from the brand.

He paid a little over Rs 20 lakh on road for this SUV and he mentions that the dealer helped him a lot in getting the car. He also added that he went through multiple google reviews and customer feedback before choosing the dealer for a smooth experience.

He took delivery of one of the first Duster SUVs in the Delhi NCR region. He opted for the Iconic manual variant, which comes loaded with features from Renault. It includes a panoramic sunroof, seat ventilation, electrically adjustable front seats, a multifunction steering wheel, fog lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, and more.

The owner mentioned that he really likes the animations and the driver-centric touchscreen infotainment system. He also appreciated the interior colour theme and stated that the ride quality of the SUV feels plush for this segment. Since the car is still new, he is getting used to it and currently has no major complaints.

He chose the 6-speed manual variant paired with the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine that generates a segment-best 163 PS and 280 Nm of torque. He is satisfied with the performance and mentioned that he has already driven the SUV at speeds of up to 100 km/h.

The owner is particularly happy with the large boot space, electric tailgate, and hydraulic struts for the bonnet. However, he did point out the absence of a spare wheel as a drawback. He mentioned that some brands offer at least a space-saver spare and felt Renault could have done the same. Renault, however, offers a spare wheel as an optional extra for customers who want one.

Overall, the customer is happy with the space, features, comfort, performance, and ride quality of the Duster, and plans to take it to Ladakh and many other destinations with his family.
