Renault-Nissan big bang! 4 new SUVs coming to India by next year! Look at the glimpse

  • Renault and Nissan will launch 4 new SUVs in India, 3 of which will be manufactured in India.
  • Renault will launch a 3-row (7-seater) SUV to rival the Tata Safari and a ‘Bridger’ (Sub-4m) compact SUV in 2027.
  • Nissan will launch the Land Cruiser-rival flagship ‘Patrol’ (CBU) in early 2027 and later its own Renault-based 7-seater SUV.

Both partner companies Renault and Nissan have focused their attention on the Indian automobile market. After launching a rival to the Hyundai Creta earlier this year, the two companies are now all set to jointly launch four new SUVs in the Indian market by next year. Interestingly, three of these cars will be manufactured in India and will be priced very competitively.

1. Renault’s new 3-row SUV

Renault is currently working on a new 7-seater SUV which is undergoing testing on Indian roads. This car will compete directly with Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and Mahindra XUV7XO.

  • Design and Size: The SUV will be based on the third generation Duster, but its design will be kept a little less rough-and-tough to give it a family and premium look. Its wheelbase will be 50 mm longer to provide more space in the second row, and the rear end will be lengthened for the third row.
  • Engine: The car can be launched in 1.3-litre turbo petrol and 1.8-litre petrol-electric hybrid variants.

2. Renault Bridger

Renault will launch the production version of its ‘Bridger’ concept model in late 2027. It will be a sub-4m SUV, which will challenge Mahindra’s ‘Vision.S’ concept car and Tata’s upcoming ‘Scarlet’.

  • Features: The Renault Bridger will have a boxy/square look, with 17-inch wheels and a ground clearance of 200 mm. The cabin is likely to get a class-leading knee-room of 200mm and a 400-litre boot.
  • Engine Options: In this 1.2-litre petrol engine will be given. Hybrid and fully electric models may also be launched in the future.

3. Nissan Petrol ((Nissan Patrol)

After the recently launched Nissan Tecton, Nissan’s next biggest car ‘Patrol’ may be The company may launch the flagship SUV in India in the first quarter of 2027 through direct import from Japan.

  • Competition and Engines: This car will rival the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. It is available in 3.8-litre V6 and 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engines in the global market. In India, Nissan is likely to launch a single top-spec variant with the twin-turbo engine.

4. Nissan’s new 3-row SUV

In the second quarter of 2027, Nissan will launch its own new 7-seater SUV based on Renault’s upcoming 3-row SUV.

  • Features: The car’s design will be inspired by Nissan’s ‘Patrol’ SUV, which will make it look sharper and more aggressive. However, the car’s interior, features and engine options will be similar to Renault’s 3-row SUV.
