Renault has just launched the updated Renault Triber MPV at a starting price of Rs 7.84 lakh, ex-showroom. As part of the update, Renault re-engineered the platform of this MPV significantly. The MPV moved from CMF-A to the Renault Group Entry Platform (RGEP). Renault claims that this new platform would help improve structural durability, as it uses 10 percent more high-strength steel. Renault has currently launched the turbo-petrol version of the Triber in the market, but the brand has confirmed that the CNG and automatic versions are launching soon.
The Renault Triber, as mentioned above, has moved to the RGEP architecture, and that allows Renault to support the turbo-petrol engine along with underbody CNG tanks, AMT, and CVT gearbox options.
Triber is an entry-level MPV, and one of the major issues that most people faced was how underpowered it felt, especially when it was fully loaded. By offering the turbo-petrol engine, Renault has addressed this issue. Currently, the engine is available with a 5-speed manual transmission only. The demand for automatic cars is rising, and it won’t be the right move for Renault if it doesn’t offer an automatic with this MPV.

The brand has confirmed that it is working on the CVT automatic, and it is expected to arrive in the market soon. Not just the automatic, but the new RGEP architecture also allows Renault to offer an underbody CNG tank.
Currently, Renault does not offer any model with a factory-fitted CNG tank. The CNG is offered as a dealer-level retrofitted kit. The issue with this kit is that it takes up space in the boot and leaves no space for luggage.
In a car like the Triber, which offers a three-row layout, installing a CNG cylinder would be highly impractical. The new RGEP architecture solves this issue. The CNG tank will be placed under the floor, which means the car can continue to offer the same amount of space in the cabin and boot without compromising on the convenience or efficiency of the CNG.
The Triber turbo-petrol version uses a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that generates 100 PS and 180 Nm of peak torque. The CNG version of the Triber is expected to use the same engine, but with CNG, the power and torque figures are likely to come down.

The MPV looks the same as the non-turbo version. The MPV continues to get the gloss-black grille, LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, a large air dam, fog lamps, and thick cladding around the wheel arches. It also gets 15-inch wheels with dual-tone wheel covers, smoked clear-lens LED tail lamps, and a gloss-black trim connecting the lights. The bumper also looks the same. The only differentiating factor here is the Turbo badge on the tailgate.
The MPV continues to offer features like an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a wireless phone charger, automatic climate control, separate blower control for the rear, a cooled centre storage box, automatic headlights and wipers, a rear washer/wiper, cruise control, push-button start/stop, and more.

The Triber turbo version is currently available in Evolution, Techno, and Emotion variants. The price for the turbo-manual version starts at Rs 7.84 lakh, ex-showroom, and goes all the way to Rs 8.99 lakh, ex-showroom. When compared to the naturally aspirated version, there is a price difference of anywhere between Rs 94,000 and Rs 1.11 lakh, ex-showroom.
