Political News: The student movement at Jantar Mantar in Delhi attracted the attention of the whole world. Due to this protest, Dharmendra Pradhan had to resign from the post of Union Education Minister. Social media was considered an important link in making the student movement nationwide. But, a recent report has revealed a shocking thing. In which it has been claimed that the Central Government has sent a blocking order to social media companies every minute between March and July. Politics regarding this has also started intensifying.

On average, one blocking order every 68 seconds, reports The Indian Express. Around 1,275 orders every day. Around 1.95 lakh orders in just five months.
According to data from 'The Indian Express', between March and July this year, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube saw a huge increase in instructions sent by the government to ban online content. The special thing is that during this period, protests by students were also included against the leaking of examination papers in Delhi. Government internal data has been cited in this report. At the same time, each blocking order can include multiple content or accounts.
According to the report of the English newspaper, this huge increase was seen in the instructions sent by the government to Instagram, Facebook and YouTube to ban online content between March and July this year. To understand this rapid increase, RTI records accessed by the newspaper last year revealed that between October 2024 and October 2025, a total of 2,312 blocking orders were sent to 19 online platforms through the 'Sahayog' portal, which means an average of six such orders were sent every day.
The report claimed that although month-by-month details are not available, a senior government official said a “large portion” of the blocking orders were issued as the protests gained momentum, particularly on Instagram. It's no surprise that out of the three platforms, Instagram received the largest share of these government directives; It received nearly 1 lakh orders to block it over a five-month period — a little more than half of the total orders.
To meet the government-mandated deadline of removing content within three hours, Meta has integrated its API (Application Programming Interface) with the 'Sahayog' portal, the newspaper reported. This allows content uploaded to the system and flagged through government directives to be automatically removed from its platform without any separate human review from the company's side.

Sharing this report, Congress's social media and digital platform chairperson Supriya Shrinet wrote in an ex-post, “Every minute 1 blocking order to social media platforms… 2024-25: 2,312 blocking orders… March-July 2026: 1,95,000 blocking orders… More than half of these blocking orders were for the youth platform – Instagram. This shows that Modi is 'Gen Z'.” How afraid of[Gen Z]– that's why they suppress their voices!”
