New Delhi. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) suffered a major blow during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match played at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 15, when captain Rishabh Pant suffered a sharp elbow injury. While playing a shot on the ball of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, Pant completely missed it and the ball went straight to his left elbow.
How did you get injured?

In the fifth over of the innings, Hazlewood bowled a fast and bouncy ball, on which Pant tried to play a pull shot. But due to not understanding the speed and bounce of the ball properly, he missed it and the ball hit him directly on his elbow. As soon as he got injured, Pant was seen groaning in pain and the physio immediately reached the field.

Out of the field, then a short comeback

Initially it seemed that Pant would bat again after some time, but as the pain increased he had to leave the field.
Later, when the fifth wicket fell, he came out to bat again, but could score only 1 run in 6 balls. His wicket was taken by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Pant could not even keep wickets

Due to injury, Pant did not do wicketkeeping, which was a big blow for the team. Apart from being the captain, he is also the main wicketkeeper of the team and an important middle order batsman.
