After the rains, Yamunotri Highway has been closed due to landslides at many places. There are stones and debris spread on the road, which is causing problems to the people.
Continuous rains in Yamuna valley have created problems. Due to landslides at many places on Yamunotri Highway, stones and debris are coming on the road. Due to which the road has been closed. Erosion is also taking place on the road between Syanachatti and Hanuman Chatti. Due to which the devotees along with the local people are facing problems.
Horse-mule operation stopped on Kedarnath walking route
Due to worsening weather in the state, many roads remained blocked due to falling of boulders and debris. Kedarnath pedestrian route is also there, at present pedestrians are coming and going through the narrow route but there is a ban on horse-mule operation. Jyotirmath-Malari National Highway connecting the China border area in Chamoli was also disrupted for a few hours due to falling debris.
Due to torrential rains on the Kedarnath Yatra route, the risk of landslides has increased at many places on the Gaurikund-Kedarnath walking route. Due to debris and boulders falling from the hill near Cheerbasa, horse-mule operations were stopped from Friday morning and continued till Saturday evening. Pilgrims are walking through the narrow path holding each other’s hands amidst danger.
Traffic was disrupted for several hours on Saturday evening due to debris and boulders falling from the hill on the important Jyotirmath-Malari National Highway connecting the China border area in Chamoli district. A part of the hill suddenly cracked and fell on the highway. Due to this, queues of vehicles formed on both sides. Apart from this, all the roads of the state remained blocked due to debris. The team is busy in smoothening them.
