Lifestyle Desk- Bhuna Kathal Recipe: Jackfruit season is currently going on and jackfruit is considered very good for health. People like jackfruit vegetable very much, and if it is prepared well with spices then this vegetable tastes like chicken. But if you like to eat dry jackfruit then prepare roasted jackfruit and eat it. The roasted dry spicy taste of jackfruit is really amazing. Lightly crisp from outside and soft from inside, smoky flavor from above – the eaters will keep licking their fingers. So let us know the recipe of easy and delicious roasted jackfruit.

Material

Raw Jackfruit – 500 grams
Onion-2 finely chopped
Tomato- 2 finely chopped
Ginger-garlic paste-1 tbsp
Green chilli-2
Cumin-1 tsp
Turmeric-1 tsp
Red chilli powder-1 tsp
Coriander powder-1 tsp
Garam masala-½ tsp
Mango powder-1 tsp
Salt – as per taste
Mustard oil – 2–3 tbsp
some green coriander

Method

  1. While cutting jackfruit, apply oil on your hands and knife so that there is no stickiness. Cut jackfruit into small pieces, add light salt and turmeric and boil for 1 whistle.
  2. Take out the boiled jackfruit from water and dry it. Add some oil in a pan and fry the jackfruit on medium flame until it turns golden. This is where its special smoky and roasted taste comes from.
  3. Heat mustard oil in another pan. Add cumin seeds, then add onion and fry until dark golden. Now add ginger-garlic paste and green chilli. After this, add tomatoes and all the dry spices and fry until the oil starts separating.
  4. Add roasted jackfruit to the spices and fry on low flame while stirring for 8-10 minutes so that the spices get coated properly.
  5. Add garam masala, dry mango powder and green coriander on top. If you want more smoky taste then light a small coal, place it in a bowl, add ghee and cover it for 2 minutes. Eat hot roasted jackfruit with tandoori, roti, paratha, dal and rice.
