New Delhi, June 21, 2026: Rohit Sharma and Prasad Krishna create a unique record Rohit Sharma created history by taking a catch during the third ODI against Afghanistan. In the final match of the series being played in Chennai, Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and decided to bat.

The famous Krishna took four consecutive catches for Afghanistan. For India, Rohit Sharma took the first three catches, while Shreyas Iyer took the fourth. With this achievement, the duo of Rohit Sharma and the legendary Krishnan entered an elite club that had dominated ODI cricket for 22 years.

This happened for the third time

In the history of Indian ODI cricket, there have been only three instances where the same fielder has taken three catches off the bowling of a bowler in a match. This happened earlier in 2018, when Shikhar Dhawa took three catches off the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah in the ODI against Bangladesh. Earlier, in 2004, Irfan Pathan had taken three catches off the bowling of VVS Laxman in the match against Zimbabwe in Perth.
