Rohit Sharma broke his silence on 2027 World Cup, said- October 2027 is still far away

India’s star batsman Rohit Sharma on Thursday made a big statement about playing in the 2027 ODI World Cup. Although his answer was short, it gave further fuel to the ongoing discussions regarding his future.

When Rohit was asked whether he would be a part of Team India in the ODI World Cup to be held in October 2027, he said, ‘October 2027 is still far away, we will see then.’

Rohit gave this answer to a question from an audience at the Global Fintech Fest. There is constant speculation about the future of Rohit, who has retired from Test and T20 Internationals. In such a situation, his small answer regarding the 2027 World Cup is being considered very important.

The 2027 ODI World Cup is to be hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. The decision whether Rohit will be with Team India at that time or not is currently in the future.

‘Now bus parade is difficult…’

During this time, another interesting question was asked to Rohit. He was asked that if India wins the 2027 World Cup, will there be a victory parade in an open bus in Mumbai like the 2024 T20 World Cup?

Rohit smiled at this too and gave a short reply, ‘I don’t think a bus parade will be possible now.’

India won the T20 World Cup in 2024 under the captaincy of Rohit. After returning from West Indies with the trophy, the team’s historic open bus victory parade was held in Mumbai.

Why questions on Rohit’s form?

Amidst the discussion about Rohit’s future, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has already made it clear that considering his current form, it is meaningless to raise questions on his place.

Saikia had said after the BCCI review meeting a few days ago that Rohit was batting brilliantly and in his last ODI innings he had scored 138 runs against England. In such a situation, there is no need to speculate about his future.
