‘Rohit Sharma’s experience is the biggest strength of Team India’, statement of the Indian coach.

Delhi: Indian team’s spin bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule has said that Rohit Sharma’s presence in the team is not only important because of his batting, but his experience and leadership abilities are also a big strength for the team. He told that the entire team including captain Shubman Gill gets full benefit of Rohit’s experience.

After retiring from Test cricket, there is a continuous discussion going on about what will be the future of Rohit Sharma in ODI cricket and whether he will remain a part of the team till the 2027 World Cup. However, recent performance has not been in his favour. In the last four ODI innings, only 77 runs have come from his bat.

Rohit Sharma remains excited about every match

Sairaj Bahutule said that Rohit Sharma is a player who has been performing consistently well in international cricket for a long time. Even today, the same passion for the game is visible in him, which is seen in any new player.

He said that Rohit is very excited about every match and understands well what the team expects from him. Looking at his preparation and hard work, it does not seem that he has been playing cricket for a long time, rather it feels as if he has just started his career.

After getting out early in the first ODI against Afghanistan, Rohit Sharma practiced for a long time in the nets before the second match and focused on strengthening his preparations.

A period of change has begun in the Indian spin department.

Sairaj Bahutule also made it clear that the spin department of the Indian team is currently going through a phase of change. The team management and selectors are evaluating many young spin bowlers keeping the future in mind.

Due to Ravichandran Ashwin’s retirement and Ravindra Jadeja being given rest under workload management, many young players may get an opportunity to showcase their talent.

Young spinners will get a chance to prove their ability

Bahutule said that players like Manav Suthar, Harsh Dubey, Shivang Kumar and Zeeshan Ansari are being constantly monitored, those players who have talent and ability to perform consistently will definitely get an opportunity to move forward.

He said that the biggest challenge in times of change is to identify the right players and currently the team is going through the same process. He is confident that the Indian team will get the best spin bowlers for the future.

Responsibility of preparing new generation spinners

Before the current ODI series, Sairaj Bahutule has been specially attached to the team as the spin bowling coach. He has long experience of coaching in domestic cricket and franchise cricket.

He said that every spin bowler is important for him. He also praised Ravindra Jadeja and said that he has made great contributions to Indian cricket with both bat and ball over the years.

Bahutule believes that Harsh Dubey and other young players have to understand that wearing the jersey of the Indian team is a big responsibility and they have to take full advantage of this opportunity.
