Rohit Sharma: Good news for Mumbai Indians who are facing continuous defeats, Rohit’s return date confirmed!

Rohit’s IPL 2026 season came to an abrupt halt when he suffered a hamstring injury in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 12. Due to this injury, Rohit did not play ‘El Clasico’ against Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Chennai Super Kings. However, according to reports, Rohit took part in an optional training session after the defeat against Chennai, and he looked to be in good rhythm with his strokes. Other Indian stalwarts of MI like captain Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma were also with him in the session.

Due to Rohit not being available in the top order, Mumbai Indians are experimenting with different opening combinations. Quinton de Kock initially replaced Rohit and scored a brilliant 112 runs. However, in the next game, Rohit’s usual opening partner, Ryan Rickelton, was dropped.

Rickelton has been replaced by 22-year-old Danish Malevar in MI’s last two games, but it is a move that has not worked out for the five-time IPL champions. Malewar has scored only 2 runs. Rohit’s return will undoubtedly be a big boost for Mumbai Indians, who are placed 9th in the points table with just two wins in 7 matches. At the time of the injury, Rohit was the highest run scorer of his team.
