According to media reports, Indian team head coach Gautam Gambhir and the selection committee had informed former captain Rohit Sharma about the future roadmap last week that the selectors are now moving forward keeping in mind the 2027 ODI World Cup and they are planning to give opportunities to young players in the team. Rohit will not be a part of the team in this planning.
The report also said that the selectors have now decided to focus on young players, especially Yashasvi Jaiswal. Young batsmen like Yashasvi Jaiswal can be given big and regular roles. It is clear that now the time for retirement has come for Rohit Sharma. Lord’s ODI could also be the last match of his international career.
According to another report, former Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s parents, Gurunath Sharma and Purnima Sharma, have reached London ahead of the third and final ODI between India and England at Lord’s on July 19. After being informed by the selectors about his future plans, Rohit himself has made special arrangements for his parents to be present at Lord’s so that they can witness his final match.
