Guwahati. India registered a resounding victory by 8 wickets in the second ODI against West Indies. India chased a historic target of 406 runs at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Captain Shubhman Gill scored a double century (233 not out in 133 balls). Rohit Sharma, famous as 'Hitman', scored centuries. He scored 101 runs in 75 balls with the help of 10 fours and six sixes. This was Rohit's 35th century in ODI career and 52nd century in international cricket. He created a series of records by scoring a century in Guwahati ODI on Wednesday. He defeated five greats including Sachin Tendulkar.

Rohit overtakes Sachin in these two lists
Rohit Sharma has become the second fastest batsman to complete 12 thousand runs in ODI. He touched this figure in 282 innings and left Sachin behind. Sachin did this in 300 innings. Virat Kohli had scored 12 thousand runs in 242 innings. Rohit has become the cricketer to score the second most centuries in successful run chases in ODI. So far he has scored 15 centuries in successful runs. Sachin (14 centuries) has slipped to third position. Kohli tops this list with 25 centuries. Rohit has reached sixth place in the list of players who have scored the most 50 plus scores in ODI history. He has defeated Sanath Jayasuriya and Mahela Jayawardene. Rohit has played innings of fifty or more runs 97 times. Former Sri Lankan cricketers Jayasuriya and Jayawardene did this 96-96 times. In this list, Sachin (145) is at first and Kohli (134) is at second place.

Rohit Sharma has become the oldest player to score an ODI century in India. He achieved this feat at the age of 39 years and 153 days and broke Sunil Gavaskar's record of 1987. Gavaskar scored an ODI century on Indian soil at the age of 38 years and 113 days. Rohit has also made the record of hitting most number of sixes in ODI against West Indies. He has hit 44 sixes in front of the Caribbean team. Former South African batsman AB de Villiers had hit 40 sixes in the ODI against West Indies. Rohit has become the only player in a country to hit 200 ODI sixes. Former West Indies opener Chris Gayle is second in the list of players who have hit the most number of sixes in ODIs in a country. Gayle hit 147 sixes at home.
